• The Termo Company is proposing to add three new pads and up to 4 new oil wells per pad to our existing oilfield operations in the Aliso Canyon Oil Field. The pads utilize existing open areas. The total disturbance would be 6.3 acres, each pad utilizing about 1.3 acres, with the balance made up of existing roads.
  • The oil field has been continuously producing oil and gas since 1938. We are proposing what is referred to as a “conventional” drilling program.
  • The three proposed well pad locations are on the other side of the ridge from Porter Ranch, 1.65 miles from the closest residence.
  • Each well site has been intentionally located to avoid impacts to the local ecology, including native plants and wildlife.
  • The Project uses existing infrastructure including existing roads and existing production facilities.
  • The Project occurs entirely on private property and will have no effect on public recreation.
  • The proposed drilling does not pose a threat to groundwater, and in fact, the Project is not located over or near a groundwater basin.
  • The Project uses electric motors for the wells and other Best Available Control Technology (BACT) to minimize or eliminate air emissions.
  • We have worked very hard to design a Project that avoids significant environmental impacts. There will be public meetings hosted by the County, including an opportunity for the public to speak to the decision-makers.
  • Termo is an employee and family owned business founded in Long Beach in 1933. We did not survive 80 years by being cavalier, sloppy, or unsafe. We approach everything we do with integrity and a desire to do the right thing. We care deeply about our reputation and we protect it through our commitment to safe, prudent, and environmentally responsible operations.

We are confident that the more stakeholders know and understand the Project, the better they will be able to differentiate the facts from the fiction. We have endeavored to provide the community the most up to date and relevant information available on the Project and oil and gas operations in Southern California and Los Angeles County.
